Last week, the WHO announced that it had confirmed new cases of EBOLA in a city of Kivu named Butembo in Africa. After Butembo, the Guinea administration confirmed the reoccurrence of Ebola in N’Zerekore, in southern Guinea over the weekend.
On Tuesday, it was the first official statement that came from the White House on the Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the West African country Guinea. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that it requires a very immediate and immense response to avoid the fatal repercussion of Ebola outbreaks that happened in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Guinea.
Psaki wrote in the statement that the whole world is still struggling with the covid-19 pandemic and now Ebola reoccurred in two African countries. The world cannot afford another pandemic outbreak and expressed for doing everything to respond quickly and help by providing all the resources in the power so that it can be stopped before spreading on a large scale.
The WHO confirmed new cases of Ebola in Butembo, in the city of Kivu. It stated that the city is the focal point of the second-largest Ebola outbreak. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unlike covid-19 which spreads by coming in normal contact, Ebola spreads mainly through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of people who are sick or who died of the disease.
