Volkswagen Started Finding Possibilities of Flying Cars in China

Volkswagen Group, Europe’s biggest automaker comprises 12 brands from seven European countries, which are Volkswagen, Bentley, Skoda, Seat, Audi, Ducati, Buggati, Porsche, Lamborghini, Man, Scania, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Apart from this, the Volkswagen Group offers an ample range of financial services that include leasing, dealer and customer financing, fleet management among others.

Volkswagen Group in 2019 exceeded its previous year’s figure by 1.3% and had set a new record by delivering 10,947,636 vehicles to customers across the globe. Currently, there are around 667.7 thousand people employed in the Volkswagen Group including the Chinese joint venture. The sales revenue of Volkswagen Group has been increasing every year and between January and December 2019, it exceeded by 7.1% from its prior figure and the group generated a sales revenue of over $306 billion, and operating profit of around $23 billion in the fiscal year 2019.

Volkswagen Group stated that the company is conducting a study to check the feasibility of flying cars in China. China is accounted for the largest part of Volkswagen’s sales and it is the world’s biggest auto market.

In a LinkedIn interview with Herbert Diess (CEO, Volkswagen), the carmaker head of China, Stephan Woellenstein mentioned that the company wanted to develop a drone that could be licensed and would be giving it a way to participate in the future market.

After self-driving technology, the vertical mobility approach could be the next step towards the future. That’s why the company is investigating the potential concept to identify the possibility of industrializing the approach. News from the German carmakers has come, that they made a big push into Electric vehicles in the year 2020. As compared to 2019, the delivery was raised by over three times the volume of the battery-electric vehicle in 2020, while the plug-in hybrid deliveries burst 175% to 190,500 units, but vertical mobility facing many hurdles that can take years to solve the electric mobility, but Volkswagen is joining a growing number of companies exploring the potential of flying vehicles.
