This awarded contract follows the Contract 1 completion, which GLDD finished on time in March 2020, deepening and widening the Corpus Christi Ship Channel (CCSC) from the Gulf of Mexico to Harbor Island. The Contract 2 will deepen and broaden the CCSC from Harbor Island to 2.7 miles past the LA Quinta Junction. In addition, it comprises Ingleside which is operated by the three major crude export marine terminal operators, such as Flint Hills Resources, Buckeye Partners, and Moda Midstream that will directly benefit.
Further, Callan Marine will provide service as a major contractor to the Texas Department of Transportation for a maintenance dredging project located at the Bolivar Ferry Terminal. It comprises the removal of 600,000 cubic yards of material and returning the landings to the required depth of 22’. The project was anticipated to start from 15th May 2020, and work is estimated to finish late July 2020. This shows that the US is significantly focusing to continue its marine infrastructure operations to further strengthen the global trade. This leads to the adoption of hoses which is equipped with dredgers and suitable for dredging sand and slurry.
Some prominent players in the market include Trelleborg AB, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., Townley Engineering & Manufacturing Co., Inc., Salem-Republic Rubber Co., and Parker-Hannifin Corp.
