Russia threatens to ban Twitter in 30 days

Russia has decided to put a ban on twitter in the coming 30 days, if the twitter officials do not remove ban on it some of the content of Russia. During the pandemic, where many countries and their areas are under lock down situation, social media platforms like, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter are the only things that are a lifeline for the people who are staying at homes. But Twitter has put a ban on few of its content in Russia for some security reasons. Owing to this situation, Russian government has decided to take a forceful decision to ban the Twitter website in the upcoming 30 days.

The state communication of watchdog, Roskomnadzor of Russia said that they are facing issues like the speed to upload the photos on Twitter has slow down and Twitter has taken measures on the content that has been posted in Russia related to drugs, Child pornography as well as children committing suicide. The Russian president Vladimir Putin, gave full authority to Roskomnadzor to make sure that strict actions are taken against the platforms that are criticizing against Russia and its content.

Roskomnadzor said that the Twitter has failed to remove the ban on the content that has been held to encourage suicide among the minor and has also failed to remove ban on almost 3000 post on Twitter. Russian officiasl also tried contacting the Twitter officials to make sure that the ban is removed and the misunderstanding that is going on is sorted accordingly but the Twitter officials did not reply and hence Roskomnadzor said that if the things continue further and if the Twitter fails to understand the seriousness of this in a month then Twitter will be banned in Russia on and out of court basis in Russia.
