  • In October 2024, Weichai Power unveiled a commercialized model with a base engine brake thermal efficiency exceeding 53%. The company claims that the product could help reduce China’s annual fuel consumption by roughly 31 million tons and carbon emissions by about 97 million metric tons, based on current diesel engine usage. The technology is applied to various sectors including transportation, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and ships and power generation equipment.
  • In September 2024, Perkins unveiled its new Perkins 2606 diesel engine. It is designed and optimized for electric power generation. It is a 13-litre, six-cylinder engine. The commercial production of the 2606 engine will begin in the second half of 2025. The engine will deliver 321-523 kW of prime power and 365-572 kW for standby use, providing a seamless switch between 50 and 60 Hz. It is capable of handling altitudes of up to 3,500 meters, and temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C.  It will have applications in data centers, industrial sites, power plants, and remote work locations.
  • In August 2024, Vale, Komatsu, and Cummins entered into a partnership to develop the Dual Fuel Program (DF). The program is aimed at retrofitting the 830E and 930E diesel trucks with ethanol-diesel dual-fuel capable engines. It will aid in carbon emission reduction.
  • In May 2024, Cummins Inc. and Isuzu Motors Ltd. unveiled a new 6.7-liter engine- Isuzu DB6A. The product is specifically designed for Isuzu’s new medium-duty truck lineup.
  • In March 2024, Cummins Inc. launched an X15 diesel engine. The product will belong to the Cummins HELM™ 15-liter ‘fuel agnostic’ platform. It will feature a rating of up to 605 hp and 2,050 ft-lb of torque. It will be optimized for powertrain integration with Eaton Cummins transmissions and Cummins-Meritor drivetrains. The product utilizes a belt-driven, high-output 48-volt alternator. It is capable of using biodiesel blends up to 20% and renewable diesel blends up to 100%.
  • In December 2023, Cummins Group in India showcased its Make in India, fuel-agnostic, sustainable engines at CII EXCON 2023. The company presented two new engines – Legend L10 and M15. The engines are designed for off-highway construction operations. It also presented the M15 diesel engine, L10 diesel engine, B6.7H Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine, B6.7, B4.5 engines, and the Single Module™ Aftertreatment System.
  • In February 2023, Cummins Inc. announced that it would launch the new X10 engine. The engine will replace both the L9 and the X12, by serving both medium and heavy-duty applications. The diesel version will be available first, and the other versions for gaseous fuels will be introduced later.
