Punjab Government issues new rules and guidelines to stop COVID 19 spread

In the midst of rising coronavirus cases in the state, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, today, introduced a set of new guidelines. On Tuesday, with health experts and senior officers, he reviewed the Covid-19 situation. Captain Amarinder Singh limited the number of indoor people gathering to 100 and those gathering outdoors to 200, which will be implemented from March 1. He also ordered strict enforcement on wearing face masks and compliance with laws of social distancing, and he also announced the number of COVID 19 tests up to 30,000 a day.

However, the decision on the occupancy of the cinema halls will be taken after March 1, reports have suggested. He also allowed the state’s deputy commissioners to enforce night curfews if necessary, in hot spots. Moreover, at marriage places and restaurants, Singh has ordered COVID-19 monitors.

Hussan Lal, IAS said that Ludhiana, SBS Nagar, SAS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Bathinda witnessed a huge number of cases of Covid-19. From 1 percent, he said, the optimistic rate has gone up to 1.8-1.9 percent. “Due to lack of compliance, average positivity rate of SBS Nagar, Ludhiana, Bathinda is more than state average,” he added. Furthermore, on Sunday, Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu warned healthcare workers who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine shots are not allowed to leave quarantine if they have become infected at a later point. He also said that they are going to bear the cost of their care. Healthcare staff, who are not vaccinated to increase their immunity to COVID-19, despite multiple opportunities being given, and if they get the infection at a later stage, they will have to bear the cost of their treatment and will not be able to use quarantine/isolation leave, Sidhu said in an official statement.

A Medical Bulletin said that 389 new cases were reported in Punjab on Monday, bringing the infection count to 1,78,847 and currently in the state, there are 3,167 active COVID-19 incidents. These new cases are found from different cities of Punjab which is 54 cases from Jalandhar, 49 From Mohali and 38 From Hoshiarpur. As per fresh information, total 225 coronavirus patients were discharged after recovery and Punjab has overall 1,69,911 recoveries till date. Hospitals collect 48,60,435 samples for testing and currently there are 10 patients on ventilator and 77 patients on oxygen support.
