As it looks to expand its support for the country’s healthcare system, which is now fighting the second wave of the pandemic, OYO, the online hotel aggregator, has launched a feature on its app where COVID-19 positive individuals can access quarantine and isolation facilities.
Users can book quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients and for individuals with quarantine requirements through the app’s OYO Care function.
OYO Care has also partnered with over 30 hospitals, government agencies, and private companies to open dedicated properties across cities that serve as self-isolation and quarantine centres for health care practitioners and frontline staff, as well as to provide a safe haven for families of COVID-19 positive patients near hospitals and other locations. Tourists and individuals travelling for emergencies and other purposes will be able to stay there for post-travel isolation.
Last year, OYO Care partnered with a number of hospitals, departments, and government agencies to provide quarantine services to stranded travellers, frontline staff, medical personnel, and asymptomatic patients.
“OYO’s presence across India enables us to support the healthcare system that has been stretched for space during such times,” Rohit Kapoor, CEO, OYO INSEA, said regarding the initiative. Selected properties across cities will be designated as quarantine and isolation facilities for COVID-19 positive patients.”
OYO claims to have taken a number of precautionary and sanitary steps to ensure the health and safety of its guests, staff, partners, and vendors.
The country is currently dealing with a serious second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, with daily cases exceeding three lakh. This has put unprecedented strain on the country’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly in metro areas, where beds, medications, and oxygen facilities are in short supply.
To fight this deadly pandemic, the country’s startup community has launched a number of initiatives aimed at stemming the tide and alleviating the suffering. These include the provision of much-needed oxygen cylinders as well as the establishment of networks to relieve the strain on the healthcare system.
Nowadays, many industrialists, startups and even other countries have started lending a helping hand to India, in order to fight the devastating second wave of COVID-19. Similarly, on a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the US President Joe Biden pledged America’s full help in providing emergency assistance and resources in the battle against COVID-19.
President Joe Biden said after his phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that India was there for the American people in their hour of need, and that the US will be there for India, as it faces its worst-ever public health crisis.
On Monday, the two leaders spoke as the Biden administration moved quickly to assist India in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The White House declared immediate assistance ranging from oxygen supplies, raw materials for COVID-19 vaccines, vital life-saving medications, and personal protective equipment (PPEs).
At her regular press conference, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters, “The president promised America’s steadfast continuing support for the people of India, who have been affected by the recent increase in COVID-19 incidents.”
