Kings XI Punjab has made its entry in auction of IPL Teams this year with Rs. 53.20 crores. They expect to make some big moves to buy new players and to release some players to make balance in the team and to increase the strength of the team. Their top order of batting starts with KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran. In auction of IPL 2021, Kings XI Punjab released one of their strong players, Glenn Maxwell and replaced him with Dawid Malan to increase the support and strengthen the batting order of the team. They also purchased some all-rounders, Mosis Henquires, Saurabh Kumar and Febian Allen for Rs. 4.20 crores, Rs. 20 Lakhs and Rs. 75 Lakhs respectively.
Kings XI Punjab also bought two Right arm off break bowlers, Jalaj Saxena and Utkarsh Singh for Rs. 30 Lakhs and Rs. 20 Lakhs respectively. Their abilities and gameplay may become a turning point for the team. Punjab Kings also bought an Australian fast bowler, Riley Meredith for Rs. 8 Crores. His strong phase of bowling makes him best player of the tournament. He has 43 wickets from 24 matches. Kings XI Punjab also bought a Right-handed batsman, Shahrukh Khan after seeing his big hittings in the Syed Mushtag Ali Trophy. Punjab Kings paid Rs.5.25 Crores for this player. The team also acquired another fast Bowler, Jhye Richardson for Rs.14 Crores. His speed and strength of bowling may give a hard competition to rest of the teams.
The team retained many players, KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agrawal, Nicolas Pooran, who are the batting strength of the team. A great start from these players might give a new energy and motivation to rest of the players. Another retained Players are Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Ishan Porel, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Shami, along with another five players. Kings XI Punjab also released some players, Glenn Maxewell, Jimmy Neesham, a player from New Zealand because currently he is under treatment of his injured finger. Krishnappa Gowtham, Tajinder Singh and Jagadeesha Suchith also come in the list of released players.
