In the hybrid India Tourism Mart (ITM) at the inaugural edition addressing the delegates through video conferencing, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan expressed that for bringing back international tourism to India, his ministry will support the Ministry of Tourism. On Thursday Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that India is planning to restart E-tourist visas soon along with scheduled international flight just like as it started to issue medical visa. Due to pandemic COVID-19 tourism in India was affected adversely so to give it a boost this move could be proved as essential.
The Union Health Minister stated that a spike in medical tourism in India is observed attributed to India’s healthcare facilities advancements. A popular tourist destination has always been India, additionally over the last few years come up as a leading destination for tourism in the medial as well. The healthcare industry in the country has shown advancements that are comparable with the best in the world.
Globally Among 41 major destinations, India stands in the fifth position for the medical value travel which it had grown over the last decade. Before COVID-19, a growth of around 22-25% in medical tourism has been experienced along with the expectation of the industry to reach $9 billion by 2020. Hospitals that are present in India provide high-quality health care facilities at one-fifth to one-tenth of costs when compared to other countries. These all-build strengths and capabilities for India emerging as a crucial place when concerned with medical tourism contribution.
