For the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal declared that a group of Delhi government schools would be de-affiliated from the Central Board of secondary education and will be affiliated with a New Delhi Board of school education. Delhi government operates over 1,000 colleges, all of which are currently affiliated with the CBSE.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that the government would set aside Rupees 62 crores to create a separate state board of education while presenting the Delhi annual budget for 2020 and will chair the new board, which will be overseen by a governing body. An executive body led by a CEO will oversee the company’s daily operations.
Last July, the government formed two committees, one to develop a structure for a Delhi State Education Board, and another to develop a new curriculum for children up to the age of fourteen. Moreover, the curriculum committee has submitted a collection of guidelines until class VIII, according to Shailendra Sharma, principal advisor to the Directorate of Education. He mentioned that the secondary and senior secondary sections’ curriculum would need to be worked on right now.
The primary goals according to Chief Minister are to create kattar deshbhakt (staunch patriots) positive citizens and to train students to be less dependent on the job market. The Delhi government has been emphasising the importance of young people engaging in entrepreneurship for the past few years through various initiatives such as the implementation of an entrepreneurship mindset curriculum in its schools and the establishment of an ability and entrepreneurship university.
Our children are the country’s future. We must educate children who will be able to assume responsibility for all aspects of the country in the future, whether it is science, technology, industry, commerce, politics, or society.
