On Tuesday, Audi unveils the new e-tron GT, one of the most powerful EVs that the company has manufactured with considered to 470 Hp of peak power. The e-tron GT has 2 motors that can travel approximately 238 miles on a 93.4-kilowatt battery. The e-tron GT has a similar front motor, as any other entry-level GT has, but it has another and a very powerful rear motor attached to it. The motors together can produce up to 637 Hp with over boost. The RS e-tron GT can expedite in 3.1 seconds from zero to 60 miles per hour, and it has a 155mph top track speed. The European WLTP states 298 miles for e-tron GT.
Although SUVs are Audi’s recent electric vehicles, still the e-tron is designed in such a manner that attracts people with better handling. The new e-tron GT will compete against the cars such as the Tesla Model S along with the Porsche Taycan. Although Audi and Porsche, both are the subsidiaries of Germany ‘s Volkswagen AG, and both the companies cooperated on these cars fundamental engineering.
Thee-tron GT is created as a four-door grand touring car. According to Audi, the Porsche’s gives more emphasis on raw performance, but the e-tron GT is intended for long-distance comfort level as well. Though, the e-tron GT also has four-wheel steering to allow for very tight turns at low speeds and smooth four-wheel lane change at higher speeds. Two versions of the e-tron are expected to be introduced by Audi by this spring. The e-tron GT has been developed with a roof made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, to reduce the center of gravity and save weight.
With one of the quickest charging rates, the e-tron GT recharges the battery from 5% to 80% in around 22.5 minutes. $140,000 will be considered as the starting price for the Audi e-tron GT in the US. The cost of E-tron GT Premium plus, being one of the most economic models would be about $100,000. Audi is still eligible for federal electric Vehicle tax credit amounting to $7,500 whereas Tesla vehicles are not.
