The artificial pancreas device system consists of two types of devices for monitoring diabetes: a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM) and an insulin infusion pump. In 2016, the MiniMed 670G system (Medtronic), a hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system, received FDA approval. This device is the first fully automated artificial pancreatic device system. It consists of an insulin pump, a blood glucose meter, a transmitter connected with a proprietary algorithm, and a SmartGuard Hybrid Closed Loop.
