AMAZON INDIA DEPLOY’S MAHINDRA VEHICLES TO STRENGTHEN ELECTRIC MOBILITY

Amazon India and Mahindra Electric have announced a partnership on Tuesday under which the eCommerce has deployed electric vehicles under its delivery network to strengthen the electric mobility in the country. Electric vehicles are future of the country, Amazon India has deployed around hundreds of Mahindra electric vehicles (Treo Zor) in seven major cities of India. The cities where the EVs are deployed include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Lucknow, Bhopal.

Amazon India has announced earlier in 2020 that its delivery network will include 10,000 electric vehicles by 2025. Amazon India said “This partnership with Mahindra electronic is an important step towards India’s progress in the e-mobility industry to achieve its environmental sustainability goals”. Amazon India is building a supply chain which will help minimize the environmental issues while delivering. In addition, Mahindra Electric Mobility Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Babu said “We believe this will redefine India’s logistics and last mile delivery needs and at the same time help Mahindra and Amazon to achieve our sustainability goals”.

Mahindra Treo Zor was launched in October 2020 which runs with Lithium-ion battery. Treo Zor got a power of 8kW and highest in class payload up to 550 kg. Amazon rival Flipkart also has announced to use electric vehicles by 2030 as a part of its sustainability efforts. Flipkart has also deployed few electric vehicles in cities like Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Mumbai, Lucknow.
