Amazon, on Monday, had announced that Alexa, the digital voice assistant had successfully completed three years in India. While celebrating the anniversary, Amazon said that customers in India, interacted with Alexa in various languages which includes English, Hindi and Hinglish (mix of Hindi and English) previous year.
Further, the company also added that there has been an increase in interaction with Alexa when compared, 2019 to 2020. Interaction was increased to 67% from 2019 to 2020. The interaction between Alexa and customers is for various tasks like controlling smart lights, smart appliances, playing music, setting alarms, real time cricket score updates and real information among others.
With Highlighting its third anniversary, Amazon announced for adding new customers, in order to grab up Alexa powered speakers. This will start from 15th February, customers will have offers on Echo Devices, smart home bundles and many more things installed for them.
The company also disclosed some interesting facts related to growing popularity of Alexa. Alexa is becoming more popular not just in metro cities but also in tier-2 cities along with lesser-known small towns that includes Spiti, Bundi, Gadchiroli. In India, Echo-smart speakers had been purchased by customers from over 85% pin codes in 2020. According to Amazon one of the interesting statistics that it had registered customers saying “Alexa, I love you” for close to 19,000 a day that was up to 1200% as compared to 2019.
Alexa’s new features regarding the bill payment also fascinated the customers a lot, which include electricity, water, cooking gas, broadband, postpaid mobile bills, DTH recharges and booking cylinder faster by instructing Alexa to make her do as you say. One of the most frequently asked instructions to Alexa are playing songs on Amazon Echo smart speakers.
