Airtel has again regained the primary position after several years crossing Jio, within the number of consumers this year. From September 2020 till today airtel has the highest increase within the number of consumers crossing Jio and leaving everyone behind. Airtel is now the foremost loved telecom network as per the stats. The telecom subscriber base grew to 1.17 billion within the last October with Bharati Airtel, maintaining its leadership in mobile subscriber addition that contributes to almost 98% of the entire connections within the country, says the monthly report released by sector regulator Trai.
This is the second consecutive month when Airtel added highest number of subscribers. In September, it had regained the leadership position in subscriber addition after a niche of 4 years. 3.67 million new customers were added by Airtel Company in October last year, taking its total customer base to 330.28 million in October 2020, the Telecom regulatory agency of India’s (Trai) report said. After Airtel comes the Reliance Jio, which added 2.22 million new mobile customers, taking its total subscriber base of Reliance Jio to 406.35 million during the reported month.
The opposite four mobile service providers — Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL), BSNL, MTNL and Reliance Communications have reported loss in their subscribers. VIL lost the utmost mobile customers during the month. Around 2.65 million subscribers were lost by corporates, with its wireless subscriber base dipping to 292.83 million in October last year. Survey also says that BSNL company lost 10,208 customers, MTNL lost 7,307 customers and Reliance Communications lost almost 1,488 mobile customers. The general telecom subscriber base within the country, however, increased to 1,171.8 million in October from 1,168.66 million in September 2020.
