The State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to donate Rs. 11 crores to the PM Cares Fund in order to support the next phase of the COVID 19 vaccination drive.
“It is in times of adversity that true strength is checked, and we should all be proud of the efforts that our country has made to stop the pandemic. The war against the pandemic is far from over, and we feel it is our responsibility as a responsible corporate citizen to help the government’s efforts to vaccinate everyone.”
In a tweet, SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara said, “I urge everyone to come forward and help in whatever way they can to ensure a good vaccination campaign.”
SBI promised 0.25% of its annual income to help the war against COVID-19 in 2020, as well as a major commitment to the distribution of masks, sanitizers, and other products to those in need. Additionally, SBI employees donated Rs. 107 crores from their monthly salaries to the PM Cares Fund in an attempt to support the country during these extraordinary times.
SBI has been leading the way in its role as a corporate socially aware company and helping the nation as much as it can in the tough times. The efforts taken by SBI and their employees voluntarily are being taken as an inspiration by many other companies and they too are coming forward and helping the nation by donating money to the PM Cares Fund or distributing masks, food packets among many other things to the needy.
