India initially has decided to provide the vaccine to the 1.15 crore health workers and the frontline workers started from January 16th. 2021. After a substantial time passed, government has now decided to widen the coverage crossing the decided limit of 1.15 crore workers.
The Coronavirus vaccine has been capped at Rs 250 per shot at private hospitals and health centers as the health ministry of India decided to do so. Whereas the Vaccines remain free in the government hospitals and centers. The government said that they will completely authorize the citizens of India to choose their vaccine centers when the campaign expands to cover those over 60 and those over 45 with some illness.
The Vaccine can be registered using a government website known as CoWin 2.0 portal and the Arogya Setu App which everyone is almost known off. People can also get themselves vaccinated by directly walking through the vaccination centers and the state government officials are working to provide mobilized service for those who cannot walk or need any kind of help to get vaccinated.
Government has made a list of all the private institutions that counts to almost more than 10,000 private hospitals or institutions apart from the government institutions and health centers to be authorized to provide vaccine at Rs 250 per shot. Also, in order to get the vaccine campaign with full fledge, the application to get self-registered for the vaccine has been improvised by the government. Survey suggest that only 11% of the people have opted for the product develop by Bharat Biotech and the state-run Indian Council of Medical Research.
Indian Government has targeted to vaccinate 30% of its 135-crore population by the end of August. There is a thought of Indian Government to provide the authority to the people of India to decide their vaccine centers in order to speed of the process of vaccination. The vaccine introduced by Bharat Biotech has been tested on almost 25,000 volunteers and the result of them is surely to come out this week. Covid Cases in India rose to 16,488 in the past 24 hours to stand at 1.10 crore, while the death toll rose to 113 to reach 1,56,938.
