Light detection and distance measurement sensors (LiDAR) are detection and irradiation systems for evaluating the proximity of objects. LiDAR systems mainly consist of lasers, scanners and special GPS receivers. A pulse of light is generated by the laser and the laser is emitted and transmitted towards the target. The time it takes for the light pulse to bounce back to reach the receiver is measured (using the light flux) and the distance to the target is calculated.
