Deepak Sapra, CEO of D Reddy’s Laboratories, said that India will soon get the Covid vaccine from Russia in May. The covid vaccine of Russia is Sputnik V, which is said to be highly effective in Russia and is studied to work on the Indian Strain too. Researchers found out that the vaccine is doing good on the current strain and will be helpful to all. Deepak Sapra, who is the CEO of the Dr Reddy’s Laboratories gave a statement that the vaccine will be soon be imported from Russia in a limited quantity and will be soon available to people in the Month of May.
For now, only few quantities is imported from Russia and not a perfect figure has been revealed from internal source. The Russian vaccine will be the third type of vaccine that Indians will start receiving in May. Once the vaccine is imported, it will be available to a few of the government hospitals for testing on few people first. After it is found safe and working, more quantities will be imported in future. Indian government is planning to manufacture the Russian Sputnik V in India, so that the shortage for it is covered. The manufacturing of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V will be done by Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, which is not fully sure. Deepak Sapra, said that in India there will be 6 manufacturing units, and 6 places have already been selected in India for the manufacturing of the Sputnik V. The first two units which would be set up in India will start supply of Sputnik V from June-July, while the other two units that would be set up might supply vaccine starting from the month of August.
The remaining two units is expected and is scheduled to set up, so that it would start supplying the vaccine in the month of September or October. Indian Government has made provision such that each and every state gets the benefit of the Russian vaccine with no hustle. Special instructions will be given to the vaccine center to provide the vaccination, which will be decided at the time of supply.
Deepak Sapra, CEO of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said that they have decided to provide as many doses of Sputnik V, in order to cover 12 to 13 crore of people in the year 2021. India being a highly populated country, might take time to get vaccinated with the Russian vaccine. So, government is trying to bring in two to three other types of vaccines from different countries to cover maximum population in minimum time. Many other countries like Dubai, the USA etc. are providing a helping hand to India to stand up and face this critical situation of Covid-19 second Wave. Compared to other countries, India is the highly disturbed nation in the globe.
The first batch to be imported from Russia is said to be distributed through private sectors and the batches that are produced after that in India, will be divided between the Centre, states, and private players. The price for the Russian vaccine is yet to be finalized by the officials, said Deepak Sapra. The vaccine that will be imported and the ones that would be manufactured in India will have a different price. The price would be decided in such a way, that it would be preferable and affordable to maximum population in India.
