Government plans to build highways in few states for growth

There has been a hike of almost 30% in the budget of the ministry of road, transport, and highways. States like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are still showing poor record in utilizing the state funds for the welfare of the citizens. The budget of 2021 has totally been set to increase the expenditure on the infrastructure than spending on education, subsidies, or any other support. The ministry of road and transport has been granted Rs 1,1800 crore for the betterment of roads and highways all across India. Survey was made by the government in the last year and with that survey, it was stated that the road connectivity lays a better role in the betterment of economic value for our country. Almost 12% of the high school students travel 5Km daily to reach their school and 27% use public transport. So, it has become necessary that the road connectivity must become better as it expands avenues for employment.

Plan has been made by the ministry of transport and highways that 12000 km road would be constructed this year. Last year only 237 km came on stream of the 2500 km highway sanctioned. In Maharashtra, a big over bridge has been planned to lay off the traffic between two cities Pune and Ahmednagar. Two over bridge, one over the other will be constructed by the government to ease the traffic.  Also, 6 lanes road would be constructed for the Journey from Pune to Aurangabad. Government has promised that this would be done in upcoming years initiating the work this year. In Uttar Pradesh, the rural and the district speeds are in the range of 30-35 kmph and the intercity speeds of UP is at 40-45 kmph. There is a very poor mobility around areas like Gorakhpur and Azamgarh. Likewise, each and every state has its own condition and so the government has appointed people to make sure that these conditions are overcome, and a better transport facility is made available to citizen of India in the upcoming future.
