Answering to the questions asked by three MP’s, Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the number of vacancies for the reserved candidates or post all over the centrally runed higher education institutes including IIM hovered between 20% and 90%. Study says that 62% of SC, 79% ST and 63% of the OBCs faculty posts are lying vacant out of the 20 premier business schools. the Education Ministry in Lok Sabha on Monday showed a data in which more than half the faculty positions which are reserved for SCs, STs, and OBCs in the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are vacant.
There has been lack of faculties and the reservation given to them are not utilized which might be the reason to take a chance of an open category candidate to be a faculty of the higher education institute like IIM’s. Ramesh Pokhriyal said that this is the worst condition he has ever seen and might need to take some crucial decisions on it. He also answered the questions asked by the three MP’s saying that these vacant positions might be there for some reason and need to dig out. Measure will be taken and accordingly decision would be made in the case to make sure that no positions lies vacant and are utilized to the best person.
62% of SC, 79% ST and 63% of the OBCs faculty posts are still lying vacant from across the 20 premier business schools in India. The vacancy figures stand at 39% for SCs, 42% for STs and 52% for OBCs in the 42 central universities. Also, many seats in the IIT colleges were found to be vacant that has been reserved for SC, SC and OBC. 36% of the SC faculty positions, 47% ST positions and 42% OBC seats were still vacant in the IIT colleges and so government has asked to fill the vacant teaching post to the earliest. The university grant commission is also forcing the colleges all over India to fill the vacant teaching positions in the respective institutes.
