ROG Phone 5: Asus launches the flagship game-focused smartphone with 5G support

Asus introduced its flagship ROG Phone 5 on Wednesday, the most powerful gaming-focused smartphone in the market. The new phone is powered by a Snapdragon 888 processor and a powerful audio system. Asus’ newest gaming smartphone is the fourth ROG Phone version to replace last year’s ROG Phone 3. ROG Phone 5 has the newest hardware with some optional accessories that enhance the gaming experience. It has an AeroActive 5 cooling fan, which has two physical AirTrigger buttons and a 3.5 mm headphone port.

Asus ROG Phone 5 is that the price of Rs 57,999 for the 12GB/256GB RAM version and therefore the 8GB/128GB version is out there for Rs 49,999. Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro is priced at Rs 69,999 and will feature 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The highest-end ROG Phone 5 Ultimate features 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and will be available for Rs 79,999. The phones will be sold on Flipkart at 12 noon on April 15, 2021. ROG Phone 5 Ultimate will be available in limited numbers. All three versions feature a faster processor, an AMOLED display, and a longer battery life.

The phone has more or less the same design as its predecessor, except now it has a conventional ROG backlit logo with a dot matrix display on the back. But for a change, Asus is adding the 3.5mm headphone jack back to the ROG Phone 5. It’s powered by the new Snapdragon 888 processor, the same chipset that powers the Mi 11 and the soon-to-be-announced OnePlus 9 series. The ROG Phone 5 has more RAM than any other smartphone and has a 6000mAh battery inside it.

The standard version has 8GB of RAM/12GB of RAM, the Pro model has 16GB of RAM and the new version has 18GB of RAM. ROG Phone 5 supports 5G or fifth generation, allowing faster downloads and uploads, and better gaming and other features. The size of the phone is huge at 6.78-inch with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display is 23 per cent brighter than the previous ROG Handset. The screen also features a touch rate of 300Hz.

The ROG Phone 5 also features the fifth generation of AirTriggers, that allow you to use the sides of your phone like shoulder buttons. Asus touts AirTrigger 5 provides sensitivity and better positioning. Digital shoulder buttons also provide new motion control movements, a newly added feature. AirTriggers make gaming more immersive, particularly when playing Call of Duty: Mobile games.

Beyond gaming-centric features and more advanced features, the phone has a surprisingly strong triple camera setup, with a 64MP SONY IMX686 sensor. There also are two front-facing speakers for a more immersive sound. Notably, ROG Phone 5 is also capable of shooting 8K images. ROG Phone 5 is aimed at a pro-grade smartphone gamer. Its style is designed to please hardcore smartphone gamers, not the masses. At this price, the ROG Phone 5 is a smartphone gaming niche.
